Withings launches Body Pro 2 weight scale: built-in cellular network, modular design, diabetes monitoring
CTOnews.com, Nov. 15 (Xinhua)-- Withings, a company dedicated to smart health devices, was acquired by Nokia in 2017 and launched a series of products with the Nokia logo, but Nokia didn't do well in this area and eventually ceded the smart health device field and returned Withings to its founder.
Withings has launched its high-end scale Body Pro 2, which claims to be a "revolutionary device" with a built-in cellular mobile network and a modular design. The price and launch date of the scale have not yet been announced.
After inquiry, CTOnews.com learned that the Withings Body Pro 2 scale provides basic weight, BMI, body composition degree functions, and can measure skin electrical response data (CTOnews.com Note: an indicator of autonomic nervous system activity that reflects the body's physiological response to stimuli).
In terms of modular design, Withings currently offers a "prescription-only" monitoring module that claims to be used to manage the health of diabetic patients and detect signs of "early diabetic complications" (DPN).
