Cambridge Dictionary announces word of the year 2023: Hallucinate (hallucination)
CTOnews.com, Nov. 17, Cambridge Dictionary (Cambridge Dictionary) recently announced that the 2023 word of the year is "hallucinate" (hallucination).
Hallucinate originally means to seem to see, hear, feel or smell "something that doesn't exist". It usually refers to the hallucinations caused by the user in a state of poor health or medication.
With the rise of AI, hallucinate extends to AI to produce hallucinations and generate misinformation.
The Cambridge Dictionary publishing manager says humans still need to apply critical thinking skills to the use of these tools. "artificial intelligence is very good at processing large amounts of data, extracting specific information and integrating it. But the more original they are required, the more likely they are to go wrong."
In addition, about 6000 new words and definitions in Cambridge Dictionary this year also include AI-related prompt engineer (prompt engineer / AI communicator), large language model (large language model) and GenAI (generative AI).
