Apple updates configuration to provide digital car key support for BMW's new MINI model
CTOnews.com, Nov. 18, Apple recently updated its Apple Pay configuration file to add digital car key support to BMW's MINI model.
BMW, the parent company of MINI, reached a partnership with Apple in 2020 to become one of the first car companies to support digital car keys.
MINI launched the next generation of MINI Operating System 9 systems, including MINI Digital Key Plus, a few months ago.
The feature supports ultra-wideband technology on iOS and Android devices, allowing users to access and unlock vehicles without taking their phones out of their pockets or bags.
CTOnews.com previously reported that MINI operating system 9 will run on the automotive industry's first large circular OLED display, called MINI Interaction Unit, a customizable 9.4inch screen in a prominent position in the middle of the dashboard with a variety of immersive themes to help personalize the vehicle.
All-electric MINI Cooper and MINI Countryman will be the first to be equipped with MINI operating system 9 and MINI Digital Key Plus, two models will be launched next year.
