15 times wider than the earth, the sun surprised a huge group of sunspots

CTOnews.com, Nov. 24 (Xinhua)-- NASA recently reported that "sunspot groups" have been found, consisting of at least six sunspot groups, about 125, 000 miles (201000 kilometers) wide, more than 15 times the diameter of the Earth.

Astronomers marked the sunspot group as AR3490 and rotated to the near side of the sun on November 18. Astronomers later discovered another sunspot group labeled AR3491.

The situation of sunspot groups astronomers have observed that these sunspot groups continue to split and new sunspots appear, which are currently marked AR3492, AR3495, AR3496 and AR3497, forming a larger "sunspot group".

CTOnews.com learned from the report that these "sunspot groups" span about 125, 000 miles across the sun's surface, more than 15 times wider than Earth. In addition, the sun has emitted at least 16 C-and 3M-class solar flares in the past four days or so.

If sunspots continue to spin toward Earth, any extra energy they release could bombard our atmosphere with strong solar wind and energy, causing radio power outages, GPS problems and other disturbances.

Scientists have warned that the sunspot archipelago could send violent energy to the earth, causing a geomagnetic explosion, threatening the earth's power grid and satellites, and even devastating power outages.
