SpaceX buys Pioneer Aerospace for $2.2 million
CTOnews.com November 29 news, Elon Musk's SpaceX completed an acquisition of the bankrupt parachute manufacturer Pioneer Aerospace.
SpaceX is buying Pioneer Aerospace for $2.2 million (CTOnews.com notes: currently about 15.708 million yuan), according to a bankruptcy filing filed by Pioneer Aerospace's parent company in Florida.
According to public information, the company mainly makes parachutes needed when "spacecraft return to the ground." The acquisition was approved by a judge on Nov. 22 and had not been previously reported.
This is SpaceX's first public acquisition since 2021, when the company bought Swarm, a small satellite company, for $524 million.
