TechInsights:2023 Q3 global folding screen mobile phone shipments increased by 10%, Samsung, Huawei top two

CTOnews.com, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) according to the latest data released by market research agency TechInsights, Samsung still ranks first in global folding screen smartphone shipments in Q3 in 2023, followed by Huawei, Motorola, Glory, vivo, OPPO, Xiaomi and Google.

Samsung mobile phones ranked first, with shipments down 3.6% from a year earlier.

Huawei ranked second in mobile phones, with shipments up 12% year-on-year.

Motorola ranked third in mobile phones, with shipments up 1377% from a year earlier.

Glory mobile phone ranked fourth, with a year-on-year increase of 314%.

Vivo mobile phones ranked fifth, with shipments up 92% from the same period last year.

OPPO mobile phones ranked sixth, with 51% increase in shipments compared with the same period last year.

Xiaomi mobile phones ranked seventh, with shipments down 37% from the same period last year.

Google Mobile ranked eighth.

According to classification, Samsung, Huawei, Glory, vivo and OPPO rank in the top five of horizontal folding screen phones; in terms of vertical folding, Samsung, Huawei and Motorola occupy the top three positions in shipments.

Global shipments of folding-screen smartphones rose 10 per cent year-on-year, but fell sharply in north America and western Europe due to continued geopolitical and economic turmoil and Samsung's weakness, according to the report. The Asia-Pacific region is the leader in the growth of Q3 folding screen smartphone shipments in 2023. Flip (vertical folding) accounts for the largest share of foldable design types, but book folding screen phones (horizontal folding) have the strongest year-on-year growth.
