CTOnews.com, December 1 (Xinhua)-- the European Commission recently sent a questionnaire to Microsoft competitors asking if they had allayed or addressed their concerns after Microsoft spun off Microsoft Teams from Office, Reuters reported.

CTOnews.com reported in August that in order to avoid possible EU antitrust fines, Microsoft announced the spin-off of Teams, a chat and video app, from Office products to make it easier for competitors to use Microsoft software.

Microsoft will be the first to make changes in the European Economic area and Switzerland. Starting from October 1, companies will be able to purchase Teams as a separate service at a price of 5 euros per month (currently about 40 yuan) or 60 euros per year (currently about 478 yuan), separate from Microsoft and Office 365.

Through this questionnaire survey, EU regulators hope to know whether Microsoft's existing or new competitors have reduced or eliminated their concerns after the Microsoft split, and how easy it will be for consumers to switch from Microsoft to other related competitions. the EU also wants to determine the possibility of users transitioning from cloud products to local solutions.

Sources further revealed that this could mean that EU regulators will gather information from Microsoft's competitors to develop a statement of objection, which will be sent to Microsoft next year.
