General Administration of Market Supervision: if civil drones are defective, they shall be recalled immediately.

CTOnews.com news on December 1, the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration issued an announcement today that according to the interim regulations on the Flight Management of Unmanned aerial vehicles, the work related to the recall and management of miniature, light, and small civil unmanned aircraft (CTOnews.com note: civil drones) is announced as follows:

The recall of miniature, light and small civil unmanned aircraft shall be carried out in accordance with the interim provisions on the Administration of recall of Consumer goods (order No. 19 of the State Administration of Market Supervision and Administration). Producers and importers of miniature, light and small civil unmanned aircraft are responsible for the safety of their products, and if they confirm that there are defects in their products, they shall immediately carry out a recall, shall not conceal the defects, and immediately stop the production, sale and import of defective products, notify other operators to stop operation.

The General Administration of Market Supervision is responsible for guiding, coordinating, supervising and administering the recall of miniature, light and small civil unmanned aircraft throughout the country. The market supervision and administration departments at the provincial level shall be responsible for supervising and administering the recall of micro, light and small civil unmanned aircraft within their respective administrative areas. If the market supervision and administration department at or above the provincial level considers that there may be defects in miniature, light or small civil unmanned aircraft that may cause serious consequences or have a large scope of influence, they may directly organize defect investigation. If it is confirmed that the product is defective but the producer or importer fails to carry out the recall, the General Administration of Market Supervision shall order it to carry out the recall.

The miniature, light and small civil unmanned aircraft mentioned in this announcement shall be classified in accordance with the relevant provisions of the interim regulations on the Administration of Flight of unmanned aircraft. This announcement shall enter into force as of the date of promulgation.
