It is reported that Apple encourages battery manufacturers, including China's Desai, to set up new factories in India. Sinopec has been asked to expand production in India to meet future order demand, according to people familiar with the matter.

CTOnews.com noted that Indian Federal Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar Chandrashekhar said on platform X on December 4 that Japanese electronic components manufacturer TDK would be building a 180-acre facility in Manesar, Haryana, India, to produce lithium-ion battery units for Indian-made iPhone.

Moneycontrol reported in August that Apple is actively exploring specific strategies to improve its local component manufacturing capabilities in India. The tech giant plans to increase its production capacity in India more than fivefold to about $40 billion over the next four to five years.
