CTOnews.com December 13, Ampaire Inc. A press release released today said its Electric Eel aircraft prototype set a new hybrid flight distance record of 2213 kilometers (1375 miles).

Officials say the Electric Eel prototype uses a first-generation hybrid system that not only reduces fuel consumption by 50- 70 percent, but also allows the aircraft to run a smaller, more efficient, less powerful internal combustion engine that simply turns on electric power for takeoff, landing or rapid acceleration.

The Electric Eel aircraft prototype uses a parallel series configuration in which a combined hybrid engine system will power the rear propeller and deliver power to the electric motor of the front propeller.

CTOnews.com Note: Electric Eel is based on the Cessna 337 (Sky Master) twin-strut configuration aircraft modification, flying distance reached 2213 km, although this performance is not outstanding, but it has significantly exceeded the Cessna 337 (Sky Master) 5 hours 1200 km.
