CTOnews.com news on December 21, according to Xiangyang Daily, the first blade battery production line in BYD Xiangyang Industrial Park was officially put into production, with a production capacity of about 1.9GWh. Other production lines are under construction and are expected to be put into production by May 2023, when it will have the capacity of 30GWh to assemble 600000 vehicles and provide more than 10,000 jobs.

There are two modules and 16 production lines in BYD Xiangyang Industrial Park. The blade battery produced by BYD Xiangyang Industrial Park is long and flat in shape, and its size can be freely customized according to the vehicle model. It can be expanded from 600mm to 2500 mm with wide adaptability. CTOnews.com learned that the power blade batteries produced by this production line will be supplied to BYD's full range of new energy models.

According to BYD, the power blade battery put into production in the first phase has seven advantages, such as super safety, super battery life, and super low temperature performance. Compared with ordinary lithium iron phosphate batteries, its volume utilization has increased by more than 50%. This means that the battery mileage will be increased by more than 50%, reaching the same level as high energy density ternary lithium batteries.
