Use the command line to force a shutdown as follows:

(1) Log in to the mainframe using ssh

(2) find all running virtual machines

Esxcli vm process list

Write down the world id of the virtual machine to be shut down

(3) esxcli vm process kill-type= [soft,hard,force]-world-id=WorldID
