In order to experience ORACLE 18C, I went to https://edelivery.oracle.com/osdc/faces/SoftwareDelivery early in the morning to get the installation media off.

First tested the installation of the database software, according to the official installation documents provided in the yum installation package configuration is not successful, yum install oracle-database-server-18c-preinstall. Checked the official source http://yum.oracle.com/repo/OracleLinux/OL7/latest/x86_64/index.html, currently there is no rpm package about 18C. The 12C rpm package that comes with OEL7.4 is directly used. Yum install oracle-database-server-12cR2-preinstall.x86_64, all operations were successful until an ORA-12754 error occurred during DBCA.

Starting the DEBUG function of DBCA, no valuable information was found, so it was decided to build the library by hand. However, after configuring the password file and parameter file, it is still the error [oracle@dg18c ~] $sqlplus / as sysdba SQL > startup nomount;ORA-12754: Feature 'startup' is disabled due to missing capability' Runtime Environment'. [oracle@dg18c ~] $cd $ORACLE_HOME/ binding [oracle @ dg18c bin] $strings oracle | grep 'Runtime Environment' Runtime Environment seems to be limited by the media itself and can not be installed directly on the X86 platform. Try to turn off some component information in make file, especially cloud, but it still doesn't work [oracle@dg18c lib] $make-f ins_rdbms.mk cloud_off ioracle [oracle@dg18c lib] $make-f ins_rdbms.mk rac_off ioracle [oracle@dg18c lib] $make-f ins_rdbms.mk asm_off ioracle [oracle@dg18c lib] $make-f ins_rdbms.mk ops_off ioracle seems to have to wait for the official media to come out if you really want to experience 18C.
