The F11 function of the Blue Giant IBM is good, without the need for a boot disk. The system crashes and automatically recovers by pressing F11, but it is a bit unrealistic for me to wait for the poor to buy IBM for this F11. Is there nothing we can do about it?

IBM F11 one-click recovery principle:

IBM F11 system recovery works, it has two primary partitions on a hard disk, and the backup recovery partition is hidden by default. When the system crash is restored by F11, the hidden backup recovery partition is automatically set to the visible active partition, and the system recovery is performed after starting the computer. However, there is a drawback in this system: first, only IBM users can enjoy it, and secondly, the recovery speed is slow.

Then the author will use IBM system recovery tools to build F11 one-button recovery system process to introduce to you, if there are deficiencies, please criticize and correct.

Preparation phase:

Tools required: d2dfdzip.exe (IBM's F11 system recovery tool, which can be downloaded from the official IBM website)

First, use GHOST software to make system image files.

The author will not say much here, because this file is used for future system recovery, so the author suggests that it is best to reinstall the operating system and install the necessary application software to avoid having to reinstall every time it is restored later.

Second, the establishment of zoning:

Run PQ8.0 under WINDOWS to establish the partition.

1. Resize primary partition C in PQ, leaving 2G space behind it for backup partitions.

two。 Right-click the remaining space point of the primary partition-create-pop-up create Partition menu, and select create Primary Partition format as FAT32, and volume label as IBM_SERVICE.

3. Then click apply, and after the system is rebooted, the volume is labeled IBM_SERVER and the FAT32 backup partition with a size of 2G is created. But after startup, we found that our I disk did not appear, why? Because there are now two primary partitions on the hard drive, the new partition is hidden. Let's go to PQ again and right-click on the new partition-Advanced-display partition.

After rebooting, we can see our new backup partition.

Note: the newly created backup partition must be behind the primary partition C. if it is built in front of the primary partition or on the extended partition, the F11 function will not be available. The sub-area format must be FAT32, otherwise the GHOST software under DOS will not work properly. The volume label must be IBM_SERVICE, or IBM's F11 recovery software will not work.

Third, the setting of backup partition

1. Make the backup partition have startup function. Because you want to use the backup partition to start your computer when the system crashes, you must have the basic startup file for DOS in the root directory of the backup partition. You can make a boot disk under the 98 system, or use the second method, the current D version of the CD has a boot function, use the CD to boot the computer, the automatic default disk letter is Alane, and copy all the files in disk A to the backup partition on the hard disk. (DOS three basic boot files COMMAND.COM MS-DOS.SYS IO.SYS)

two。 Copy the GHOST software and the GHOST image file done in the first step to the root directory of the backup partition.

3. Create a Config.sys file with notepad

Device = c:himen.sys

Save as config.sys

4. Create an automatic batch file AUTOEXEC.BAT

Ghost.exe-clone,mode=pload,src=c:winxp.gh2,dst=1:1-sure-rb

Note: please do not modify the image file path here: C:winxp.gho, the author changed the path to I for the first time, but the result cannot be executed. The reason is that when the backup partition is activated and started, the original system partition is hidden and the backup partition becomes disk C.

Dst=1:1 is the first partition that restores files to the first hard drive.

IV. F11 function installation

1. Extract the d2dfdzip file downloaded from the official IBM website to the root directory of C disk, and modify the AUTOEXEC.BAT file in it.

Set the path of these two lines from a: to cRV, because our notes are executed directly on disk C without a floppy drive.

two。 Copy the partition software FDISK.EXE of DOS to the root directory of C disk, because the F11 function requires writing the hard disk boot record. It's on the boot disk just made.

3. Use the boot disk to start the computer to DOS, change the drive letter to CRV, and enter autoexec.bat

Display a copy of the file and press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart the computer.
