Electric cars and SUV are popular, with sales of Hyundai and Kia up nearly 10% in Europe in October compared with the same period a year earlier.

According to news on November 27, driven by a number of SUV and electric car sales, Hyundai and sister Kia's sales in Europe increased significantly in October compared with the same period last year, and sales in the first ten months of this year also increased compared with the same period last year.

Hyundai and Kia sold 89551 cars in Europe in October, up from 81953 in the same period last year and up 9.3 per cent from a year earlier, foreign media reported, citing data from the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

In terms of the share of new passenger cars sold in Europe in October, Hyundai and Kia accounted for 8.6%, second only to Volkswagen, Strandis and Renault, with 24.8%, 17.4% and 9.9%, respectively.

However, figures from the European Association of Automobile Manufacturers also show that Hyundai and Kia, which have increased sales, have not increased their share, falling 0.4 percentage points from a year earlier.

In the first 10 months of this year, Hyundai and Kia sold 940543 cars in Europe, up 4 per cent from a year earlier. As in October, their share of new passenger car sales in Europe in the first 10 months also fell year-on-year, from 9.8% to 8.8%.
