CTOnews.com, Dec. 7-A California extreme sports blogger has been sentenced to six months in prison for deliberately crashing a plane and deceiving investigators in an attempt to attract attention.

In November 2021, Trevor Jacob posted a video entitled "I crashed" on its YouTube channel. In the video, Jacob is flying a single-engine plane over Southern California when his engine breaks down. Jacob then parachuted out and recorded the crash. The video has been viewed millions of times on YouTube.

After the accident, the National Transportation Safety Board and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) launched an investigation into the crash and asked Jacob to keep the wreckage. However, Jacob lied to investigators that he did not know where the plane crashed.

Investigators eventually found that Jacob and friends took the wreckage away by helicopter and cut it in an attempt to cover up the evidence. Jacob's pilot's license was revoked after he deliberately crashed and deceived investigators.

Jacob finally pleaded guilty to faking the crash and was sentenced to six months in prison. Jacob's video has been deleted by YouTube, but it can still be found on the network.

CTOnews.com noted that many pilots and aviation experts criticized Jacob's behavior as not only dangerous but also contrary to flight safety principles.
