TIOBE releases December programming language ranking: C# is expected to become the programming language of the year

CTOnews.com, December 11 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- the TIOBE programming Community Index, a measure of the popularity of programming languages, is judged by engineers, courses, suppliers and search engines around the world. TIOBE has released a ranking of programming languages for December 2023.

Python ranked first, accounting for 13.86%, down 2.8% this month.

C ranked second, accounting for 11.44%, down 5.12% this month

C++ ranked third, accounting for 10.01%, down 1.92% this month

Java ranked fourth, accounting for 7.99%, down 3.83% this month

C# ranked fifth, accounting for 7.30%, up 2.38% this month

Python, C, C++ and Java have all declined this month, with C having the biggest decline, with-5.12% TAC rising the most, with an increase of 2.38%.

CEO Paul Jansen of TIOBE, the ▲ source TIOBE programming community, said that although C# lost the annual programming language competition last year, there is a good chance that C# will win this year, with a growth rate of 2.38% this year, while the growth rates of its nearest competitors Fortran and F# have only increased by 0.64% and 0.48% respectively.

CTOnews.com also notes that Paul Jansen claims that "most" of the top 20 programming languages lost their popularity in 2023 because of the growing popularity of niche programming languages.
