Microsoft web version of PowerPoint now supports closed subtitles

Shulou( Report--, December 14, Microsoft recently issued a press release inviting all web PowerPoint users to experience the new launch of the hidden subtitle (closed captions) feature.

The feature, which began testing in February this year, mainly makes it easier for hearing-impaired users to access audio components in PowerPoint.

Microsoft can add closed caption files to presentations when using Windows and macOS versions of PowerPoint software. Teams users can share the PowerPoint document with participants who can choose to turn on or off closed subtitles according to their needs.

It is important to note that closed caption files need to be in WebVTT format and can be made using subtitle creation tools or text editors such as notepad. Note: closed subtitles are subtitles in TV programs or DVDs for viewers with special circumstances or needs, such as audiences who are hard of hearing or need to watch the program without sound. At this time, some explanatory language can be used in the subtitles to describe the content of the program. In addition, the cover-up between the subtitles can be excluded.

Closed Captions (CC) is a standardized coding method for adding text to NTSC TV signals. The built-in decoder or independent decoder of the TV set can display the text.
