Germany solves the budget deadlock and maintains the original subsidy for TSMC and Intel to set up factories

CTOnews.com news on December 15, after more than a month of negotiations, the German government announced that it had reached an agreement to maintain subsidies to TSMC and Intel fab plants.

The Federal Constitutional Court of Germany announced on November 15 that the federal government misappropriated COVID-19 's emergency budget for the epidemic and incorporated it into the "Climate and Transformation Fund" unconstitutional.

The Climate and Transformation Fund includes subsidies to companies such as TSMC and Intel, which CTOnews.com reported had been shelved because of budget disputes.

After a month of tense negotiations among Germany's three main ruling parties, they reached an agreement before the Christmas holiday to end the budget stalemate. Michael Kellner (Michael Kellner), parliamentary secretary of state for the Federal Department of Economic Affairs, confirmed on December 13th that subsidies for TSMC and Intel fab construction remained unchanged.

TSMC plans to build its first European production base in Dresden, the capital of the German state of Saxony, with an investment of more than 10 billion euros (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 77.6 billion yuan), and the German government has pledged a subsidy of 5 billion euros (currently about 39.05 billion yuan). Meanwhile, Intel plans to invest 30 billion euros (currently about 234.3 billion yuan) in Magdeburg and is expected to receive a subsidy of 9.9 billion euros (currently about 77.319 billion yuan).
