Thanks to netizens and soft media users for 1520111 clue delivery!, December 16 (Xinhua) according to the Wall Street Journal, the California Department of Civil Rights (formerly known as the Department of Fair Employment and Housing) accused Activision Blizzard of widespread gender discrimination and pay inequality in 2021, and on Friday (15th) local time, the two sides reached a settlement of about $54 million ( Note: currently about 384 million yuan).

Under a settlement that still requires court approval, Activision Blizzard will do more to ensure fair pay and promotion practices, according to the California Department of Civil Rights. it will also provide compensation to women who work as local employees or contract workers between October 12, 2015 and December 31, 2020.

If the court approves the settlement, Activision Blizzard will pay about $54.875 million to provide relief and litigation costs directly to workers, of which more than $45 million (currently about 320 million yuan) will go to a "settlement fund" to compensate workers. Note: the California Department of Civil Rights filed a lawsuit in July 2021, alleging that Activision Blizzard cultivated a "fraternity" culture in which women were subjected to sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination.

Activision Blizzard repeatedly denied the allegations and asked to dismiss the lawsuit in October 2022, but failed. However, the lawsuit has attracted a lot of attention, and it may also be one of the catalysts for Microsoft to finally acquire Activision Blizzard some time ago, because Activision's share price fell sharply for a time.
