South Korean technology giant Samsung Electronics is facing a class action lawsuit from the Dutch Consumer Association (Consumers' Association) and the Consumer Competition claims Foundation (Consumer Competition Claims Foundation), accusing it of manipulating TV prices between 2013 and 2018, CTOnews.com reported.

The two consumer rights groups claim that Samsung is suspected of putting pressure on Dutch retailers not to sell Samsung TVs below specified prices. Samsung is also reported to be actively monitoring whether Dutch retailers comply with these price regulations.

Dutch consumers may have spent an average of 100 euros more on televisions between 2013 and 2018 because of Samsung's pricing strategy, according to the Consumer Association. (CTOnews.com Note: currently about Rmb782).

It is worth noting that even if consumers buy other brands of televisions, they may be affected. Other TV makers may have followed Samsung's pricing strategy to drive up their TV prices, the association said.

The Dutch Consumer Association and the Consumer Competition claims Foundation have called for consumers who bought televisions through Dutch online stores to join a class action lawsuit between January 2013 and December 2018, demanding compensation from Samsung and other brands it influences.
