CTOnews.com, December 22 (Xinhua)-- the Hubble Space Telescope is back in operation after fixing a gyroscope malfunction. NASA and ESA have specially adjusted their angles to take pictures of the "Holiday Galaxy" in preparation for the upcoming Christmas.

CTOnews.com Note: the protagonist of this photo is the dwarf irregular galaxy UGC 8091. Officials say the billion stars in the galaxy look like a sparkling snowball.

UGC 8091 is located in the constellation Virgo, about 7 million light-years from Earth, and astronomers call it "irregular galaxies" because it has no orderly spiral or elliptical appearance.

This image was taken using the Hubble Space Telescope's wide-field camera 3 and Advanced Camera for Surveys.
