Prompt error message ORA-28001: the password has expired

According to the investigation, due to the new features of Oracle 11G, the default password expiration limit for Oracle 11G is 180 days, and if the user's password is not changed for more than 180 days, the user cannot log in.

It can be queried by the following statement.

SQL > SELECT * FROM dba_profiles WHERE profile='DEFAULT' AND resource_name='PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME' PROFILE----RESOURCE_NAME-- -RESOURCE_TYPE----LIMIT -- DEFAULTPASSWORD_LIFE_TIMEPASSWORD180

Statement to query the validity period of the password

The LIMIT field is the number of days the password is valid. Can be passed when the password is about to expire or has expired.

Long-term correspondence can be passed.

SQL > ALTER PROFILE DEFAULT LIMIT PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME UNLIMITED;SQL > SELECT * FROM dba_profiles WHERE profile='DEFAULT' AND resource_name='PASSWORD_LIFE_TIME' PROFILE----RESOURCE_NAME-- -RESOURCE_TYPE----LIMIT -- DEFAULTPASSWORD_LIFE_TIMEPASSWORDUNLIMITED

Statement changes the default value of the password validity period of 180 days to "unlimited". For database security reasons, setting the PASSWORD_LIFE_ time value to UNLIMITED is not recommended.

Customers are advised to change the database user password on a regular basis.

Change the password for a user whose password has expired as follows:

ALTER USER username IDENTIFIED BY password

This statement changes the password, and after the password is changed, the user can connect to the database normally.
