When I read a lot of materials about vim, I feel that there are more patterns written. If you don't understand it properly, the concept will be easily misunderstood.

When we open a file, we actually go into command mode (normal mode, default mode)

Three modes of Vim:

Command mode (normal mode, default mode, edit mode)

Insert mode (input mode)

Last line mode (provides more powerful functionality than command mode)

The key is to think of the editing mode as an editing command rather than editing the text.
