CTOnews.com, November 20 (Xinhua) recently, there has been an internal upheaval at OpenAI, an artificial intelligence research institute. The former CEO Sam Altman was ousted and Emmett Shear, a former Twitch executive, was invited to serve as interim CEO.

From left to right, Mira Murati (previous position OpenAI CTO), Sam Altman (previous position OpenAI CEO), Greg Brockman (previous position as chairman of the board of directors of OpenAI), and Ilya Sutskever (chief scientist of OpenAI) according to media reports, Ilya Sutskever, chief scientist of OpenAI, was the key driver of the whole incident. The Information reported that at a staff meeting held by OpenAI that day, Ilya Sutskever admitted that what employees said was a "coup." "you can say that [a coup], but I think it's just the board doing its job," he said. " It is reported that in view of the potential harm of artificial intelligence to society, he tends to OpenAI to act more cautiously.

The news also attracted the attention of Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who retweeted a tweet from Ilya Sutskever a month ago and expressed his concern.

Musk retweeted: "if you value intelligence above all other human qualities, you are miserable." When he retweeted, he first used Oh no to express shock, and then expressed concern. "Ilya has a good moral code in his heart, not just power," he said. "unless he feels absolutely necessary, he will not take such drastic action."

Musk also said OpenAI should explain why it fired its chief executive, Sam Altman.

It is worth mentioning that Musk was one of the founders of OpenAI, but later resigned from the board.

Earlier, Microsoft CEO Nadella announced that OpenAI founders Sam Altman and Brockman will join Microsoft and will lead the new Microsoft artificial intelligence team. Nadella said he would quickly provide the required resources to the Altman team.

CTOnews.com noted that several OpenAI executives, including Brad Lightcap, OpenAI chief operating officer, Jason Kwon, and Mira Murati, chief technology officer, wrote on social platform X today that "without employees, OpenAI is nothing." Altman, the former chief executive of OpenAI, retweeted their tweets with a "loving" expression.
