CTOnews.com, Nov. 21-A new study by the Pew Research Center has found that about 1/5 of teenagers who have heard of ChatGPT admit to using the OpenAI technology to help them with their homework.

The researchers found that most teenagers know about ChatGPT, which infers that 13% of all teenagers in the United States use the chat robot to finish their homework.

The team surveyed teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17 and found that older students were more likely to use ChatGPT for classroom homework.

Pengcheng Shi, associate dean of the Department of Computing and Information Science at the Rochester Institute of Technology, said: "it's right there, and you can't stop people from using it, so the question now is how best to use it."

CTOnews.com notes that ChatGPT has raised a lot of questions since it was made available to the public a year ago, one of the main questions being: when is it ethical and acceptable to use it?

The Pew Research Center found that most students think it's okay to use ChatGPT to study a new topic, but it's not appropriate to use it to solve math problems. Few teenagers think it is acceptable to use it to write papers, and about 20% of students admit that they are uncertain about the ethics of using the technology in all three cases.

As more and more people use ChatGPT and other advanced technologies, some experts warn that some college degrees and jobs may become obsolete. But others insist that these claims are scaremongering.
