CTOnews.com, Nov. 25 (Xinhua)-- Microsoft has obtained a technology patent for cross-device experience, which will help Microsoft build a unified ecosystem if it becomes a commercial reality, according to a recent list released by the U.S. Trademark and Patent Office (USPTO).

In this ecosystem, applications can be discovered and controlled across multiple devices, regardless of the operating system on which they run.

The cross-device experience envisioned in Microsoft's patent, similar to Samsung's Galaxy Connected Experience and Qualcomm's Snapdragon Seamless, covers platform devices such as Windows, macOS, Linux, iOS and Android, and is expected to identify and activate applications on remote devices, allowing seamless interaction as devices move between devices.

CTOnews.com learned from the patent that the potential of this technology will extend to a variety of Microsoft products and may exceed traditional computing devices, including wearables, automotive systems and other smart technologies.
