Singapore Changi Airport tries artificial intelligence system to speed up security check

CTOnews.com, November 27 (Xinhua)-- Singapore's Changi Airport is testing an artificial intelligence system that is expected to halve the time required for passenger security checks, according to Straits Times.

According to CTOnews.com, the experiment was carried out in Terminal 3, using artificial intelligence and machine learning technology to identify and interpret the baggage checked by the X-ray machine at the boarding gate. The Airport Authority of Singapore said that this can shorten the time of image processing and reduce the possibility of human error.

Preliminary results show that the new system performs as well as or even better than human security inspectors in identifying prohibited items, the report said. The system is still in its early stages and the ultimate goal is to improve the level of automation.
