You can enter the company by brushing your hands, and Amazon is applying palm scanning technology to the enterprise field.

CTOnews.com, Nov. 29 (Xinhua) Amazon is expanding its palm scanning technology beyond supermarkets, launching a version designed specifically for the business world.

Amazon announced the launch of Amazon One Enterprise at the re:Invent conference in Las Vegas on Monday night. Amazon One Enterprise repackaged the company's palm payment system as an authentication tool that allows employees to enter the office by brushing their hands or access sensitive information such as financial data or human resources records.

CTOnews.com notes that companies that have signed up to use the biometric technology include Continental Hotel & Resorts, Boon Edam, a maker of revolving doors, and Kone, a provider of elevators and escalators. Amazon did not disclose the price of the service, which will be available in the United States on Monday.

Amazon says the solution is cheaper and more secure than traditional security and authentication tools such as keys, badges and passwords.

Amazon launched its palm payment system in 2020, a technology originally used to allow consumers to shop by brushing their palms, and has been deployed in whole Foods (Whole Foods), some Go convenience stores and several Fresh supermarkets. Sports and entertainment venues also use the technology, as do some Panera Bread restaurants and a few Starbucks stores.

Amazon says palm recognition is more private than other biometric systems, "because you can't identify a person by looking at an image of a person's palm." The company also said it would not obtain purchase data from scans collected by non-Amazon stores.
