Google Announces closure of Google Podcast app in April 2024

Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen Coje_He for lead delivery! CTOnews.com December 9 news, Google announced in September this year, Google Podcasts (Google Podcasts) was sentenced to "death penalty," and in the recently updated official support documents, finally announced the "death penalty date"-April 2024.

Google Podcasts (2016-2024) is Google's third attempt at podcasting apps after Google Reader-powered Google Listen (2009-2012) and Google Play Music Podcasts (2016-2020).

After Google Podcasts shut down, Google recommends users migrate to YouTube Podcasts, or YouTube Music, which is "Product 4" out of 2022.

CTOnews.com previously reported that Google is preparing to launch a "simple migration tool" for this purpose, allowing users to add podcast RSS to YouTube Music in advance, including programs that are not currently hosted by YouTube.

For users who prefer to listen to different platforms, Google Podcast also supports downloading OPML files of their shows (an XML-compliant file format), which users can download and import into apps that support the format.

Google Podcast was released in June 2018, and it has been five years since then. Users can subscribe to and listen to their favorite podcasts in the app, supporting mobile phones, laptops, smart slightly and other devices to listen to, including funny, news, history, music, business, TV and movies, education, health and fitness, technology, art, science, sports and other aspects.
