Microsoft is exploring to add text editor function to Windows Terminal

Shulou( Report--, December 11 / PRNewswire-FirstCall-Asianet /-- Microsoft is exploring a new text editor for Windows that will run in Windows Terminal with an editor experience similar to that on Linux.

Microsoft opened a discussion post on GitHub to solicit opinions on whether Windows should reinstall a CLI text editor feature.

The 32-bit version of Windows comes with its own editor, but 64-bit systems do not install CLI editors by default, but considering that the tool is one of the core needs of system administrators, developers, and advanced users, Microsoft wants users to give their own views on this issue.

Microsoft says there are countless cross-platform CLI editors available today, and each has its own strengths and weaknesses. Their goal is to install a CLI editor by default so that users can get started immediately. Note: optional editors include but are not limited to Edit, Pico, Nano, Vim, Emacs, and so on.

Microsoft stressed that one or more editors installed by default can provide instant CLI text editor functionality on all Windows machines, thus preventing users from installing or downloading them themselves. The following is an example of using Vim:
