CTOnews.com notes that Farley's comments came after GM tried to justify its decision to abandon CarPlay. Ford is also on Apple's list of automakers that will support the next-generation CarPlay. Other automakers supporting next-generation CarPlay include Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz, Lincoln, Audi, Volvo, Honda, Porsche, Nissan, Jaguar, Acura, Polar, Renault and Infiniti.

While it's unclear whether Ford will support the next-generation CarPlay, its clear statement that it will continue to support CarPlay and emphasize its emphasis on driving safety is undoubtedly a strong response to GM's decision.
