Shulou( Report--, December 16 (Xinhua)-- the iPhone 17 Pro series launched by Apple in 2025 will be equipped with Apple's self-designed Wi-Fi 7 chip, according to a recent report by analyst Jeff Pu.

Pu said Apple's self-developed Wi-Fi 7 chip would have a long-term impact on existing supplier Broadcom.

Pu believes that after Apple deployed its own Wi-Fi 7 chip to the Pro model in 2025, it will expand to the entire iPhone 18 series in 2026. However, Pu did not disclose other details of the chip in the research report. reported in January that Mark Mark Gurman of Bloomberg said Apple plans to replace Broadcom's Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips with its own chip design in 2025.

Stacy Rasgon, an analyst at financial services company AB Bernstein, said Apple's decision to phase out Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chips could reduce Broadcom's revenue by about $1 billion to $1.5 billion. However, he added that Broadcom's radio frequency (RF) chips are complex to design and manufacture and are unlikely to be replaced in the short term.

However, in January this year, another analyst, Guo Mingyi, believed that Apple had suspended its own research on Wi-Fi chips, and it was not clear whether Apple had resumed research and development.

Wi-Fi 7 support will allow the iPhone 17 Pro model and supported routers to send and receive data simultaneously over the 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands, resulting in faster Wi-Fi speeds, lower latency, and more reliable connections. According to Qualcomm, the Wi-Fi 7 can provide a peak speed of more than 40 Gbps, four times higher than the Wi-Fi 6e.
