CTOnews.com December 20 news, after more than 15 months of interruption, Bezos 'Blue Origin today officially resumed the launch mission of the New Shepard rocket, NS24 mission is now a complete success.

In September 2022, the New Shepard rocket malfunctioned about a minute after liftoff from the company's private facility in western Texas, causing bright flames in the engine, followed by an emergency abort system that activated and abandoned the capsule. Since then, the rocket's mission has been suspended for more than 15 months.

The launch, NS-24, is a cargo mission that will carry 33 scientific payloads plus 38,000 postcards from students.

To date, the New Shepard rocket has completed 24 missions, most of which have been unmanned and only six have been manned.

Shortly after Blue Origin's NS-23 mission failed last year, the Federal Aviation Administration announced it was investigating it. The FAA said in its September report that the "proximate cause" of the failure was that the engine nozzle could not withstand "higher-than-expected engine operating temperatures," but that debris generated in the accident was "fully contained in the designated hazard area."

At the time, the FCC proposed 21 corrective actions to Blue Origin aimed at preventing the same failure from happening again, including "redesigning the engine and nozzle components" and organizing the reform.
