Canalys: 240 million devices around the world are scrapped after the end of Microsoft Win10 mainstream support
CTOnews.com, December 22, according to the latest estimate released by Canalys, a market research firm, more than 240 million devices around the world will be scrapped after Microsoft stops mainstream support for Win10 in October 2025.
Canalys estimates that after Microsoft stops supporting Win10 by the end of 2025, about 240 million devices could become e-waste, accounting for about 1/5 of all Windows 10 devices currently running.
Canalys said that if the scrapped equipment were notebooks, the height folded and stacked would be 600km higher than the diameter of the moon.
CTOnews.com reported this month that Microsoft Windows 10 will still end its mainstream support on October 14, 2025.
However, Microsoft will provide a three-year paid extended security update (ESU) for individual users.
