CTOnews.com, December 22 (Xinhua)-- according to Bloomberg Beijing time in the early hours of this morning, people familiar with the matter said that OpenAI is in early discussions on a new round of financing and that its valuation will "reach or exceed" $100 billion (CTOnews.com Note: currently about 714 billion yuan).

Potential investors in this round of financing have been included in the preliminary discussion, but details such as terms, valuation and timing of the round have not yet been finalized and may still be uncertain, according to sources who spoke on condition of anonymity.

Tuyuan Pexels Bloomberg quoted market research firm CB Insights as saying that if this round of financing goes according to plan, the "darling" of the AI world will become the second most valuable start-up in the United States, followed by Musk's SpaceX.

OpenAI also discussed raising funds for a new chip company with Abu Dhabi-based G42, and OpenAI has discussed raising $8 billion to $10 billion (currently about 57.12 billion to 71.4 billion yuan) from G42, according to people familiar with the matter. It is unclear whether there is a link between chip venture capital and broader corporate financing efforts.

OpenAI is in talks with potential investors to sell shares in existing employees at a valuation of $86 billion, CTOnews.com reported in October, citing Bloomberg.
