In Part 4 of the Ansible series, we'll show you how to use static and dynamic manifests to define host groups in Ansible.

In Ansible, the managed hosts or servers controlled by the Ansible control node are defined in the host manifest file, as described in. A host manifest file is a text file consisting of the host name or IP address of a hosted host or remote server.

Hosting can be listed as a single entry or grouped by group name, as we'll see later. In Ansible, there are two types of inventory files: static and dynamic.
