Examples:

User login scenario: morning rush hour, 8:50---9: 10, 5000 agents log in online.

Business volume: 5000

Time: 20 x 60 =1200 seconds

Throughput = 80% x Traffic/(20%* Time)=4000/240=16.7/sec

instead of 5000/1200=4.1/sec.

In fact, the log-in request distribution is a normal distribution, and the peak must be higher than 4.1/sec. The peak period actually completes 80% of the traffic, but it takes only 20% of the time.

Note:

The 80/20 principle calculates the throughput (TPS) that the system is trying to achieve, not the number of concurrent users.

Knowing the number of online users or registered users or PV, you can use the 80/20 principle to estimate the TPS to be achieved.

Formula: PV*80% / 3600*20% =TPS value

3600 is one hour, 3600 seconds.
