12C Modify pdb character set (RAC):

Background:

The installed oracle12.2rac character set is AL32 UTF8, and there are already other pdb in the environment. The new pdb for data import is found to have a character set problem that causes import errors (the original library character set is zhs16 gbk). Therefore, it is necessary to modify the pdb character set, but it does not affect other pdb.

--character set of confirmation word pdb

alter session set container=PDBTEST;

select userenv('language') from dual;

RAC instance modification is a bit different from single instance. You need to stop all other instances first and then open them after modification.

--Modify character set

alter pluggable database PDBTEST close immediate instances=all;

alter pluggable database PDBTEST open read write restricted;

-- in container PDBTEST

alter session set container=PDBTEST;

select userenv('language') from dual;

alter database character set internal_use zhs16gbk;

alter pluggable database PDBTEST close immediate;
