At present, the company's database backup is carried out by means of netbackup+ tape drive, but there was a sudden problem with the backup last week and a lot of information was found on the Internet to solve the problem.

Question:

1. (96) unable to allocate new media for backup, storage unit has none available

2. Activity Monitor hint: The activity monitor failed because of cannot connect on socket.

Log error: failed to connect to bpjobd,status=25 (cannot connect on socket)

Solution:

The first problem is because of the tape. On my side, I do not clean the tape because it is read and written too many times. Another reason is that the backup fails because there is not enough tape space. The solution is simple, clean Drive, and expire the data in the tape (manual expiration or automatic expiration), or change the tape.

The second problem is that because the bpjobd process did not start, find the bpjobd program in the installation directory bin and start it, but this startup is not executed in the background, so if you turn this program off accidentally, nbu will prompt that the process cannot be found. As for why this process is not started with nbu, I am not quite clear.
