Shulou(Shulou.com)12/24 Report--
Thanks to CTOnews.com netizen OC_Formula for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, November 23, Arm today announced the release of a Cortex-M52 core designed for AIoT applications, bringing performance improvements in DSP and machine learning (ML) while reducing costs. Arm expects partners to launch related products in 2024.
According to reports, Cortex-M52 will promote the popularity of MCU's ML function by taking advantage of the current market price, and bring AI computing power into devices with lower cost and lower power consumption.
Compared with previous generations of Cortex-M products based on Armv8.1-M architecture, Cortex-M52 can improve ML performance by up to 5.6 times and DSP by up to 2.7 times.
CTOnews.com Note: Cortex-M52, formerly known as "Star" STAR-MC2 in the Chinese market, is a collaborative product of Arm and Amou's R & D engineering team.
Cortex-M52 uses Arm Helium technology, which can bring significant performance improvement for DSP and ML applications of small low-power embedded devices, and can deploy more compute-intensive ML inference algorithms in endpoints without dedicated NPU.
Arm said that Cortex-M52 achieves the lowest area and power consumption of all Cortex-M processors that support Helium technology, providing enhanced AI capabilities for lower-cost Internet of things devices.
In addition, Cortex-M52 provides a simplified migration path from Cortex-M33 and Cortex-M4 to meet the needs of a variety of AIoT applications, such as automotive and industrial control, predictive maintenance and wearable sensor convergence.
Thanks to this, Cortex-M52 can provide scalable flexibility for a range of performance points and configurations, while providing DSP capability without independent processing units, thereby saving chip area and cost.
In addition, Cortex-M52 also implements the latest security extensions to the Armv8.1-M architecture, including pointer verification and branch target recognition (PACBTI) and Arm TrustZone technology.
Arm said that Cortex-M52 will also help accelerate the launch of PSA Certified Level 2 authentication chips, which in turn will enable the next generation of PSA Certified certified devices.
