CTOnews.com November 28 news, Adobe Analytics data released on Tuesday showed that U.S. consumers snapped up a variety of beauty, toys, electronics and other discounted goods on Christmas Eve, creating a new record of $12.4 billion (CTOnews.com Note: Currently about 88.784 billion yuan) in online Monday sales.

Consumer spending on Cyber Monday, the largest online shopping day in the U.S., rose 9.6 percent from $11.3 billion last year, beating Adobe's initial forecast of a 6.1 percent increase.

Retailers such as Walmart and Macy's are cautious about sales prospects ahead of this critical shopping season for fear that inflation will squeeze consumers 'budgets, but super-value discounts introduced between Thanksgiving and Cyber Monday are bringing festive cheer.

According to Adobe, this year's Cyber Monday discounts peaked at 31 percent in the electronics category and 23 percent in the clothing category. Hot Wheels toys, PlayStation 5 and smartwatches were the most popular items, but consumers also bought many items in categories such as jewelry, personal care products and furniture.

Cyber Monday saw a record $940 million worth of goods purchased through BNPL (spend first, pay later), up 42.5 percent from last year, and BNPL usage reached an all-time high.

Amazon said consumers around the world bought more than 1 billion items on Amazon between Black Friday and Cyber Monday (Nov. 17-Nov. 27). Amazon also said it will be rolling out new deals every day through December 24.
