Shulou( Report--, December 5 (Xinhua)-- State Grid announced that China's first national offshore wind power research and test base will start construction in Fujian on December 1.

The base is jointly invested by State Grid, China Huadian, China Power Construction and other units, and is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2024.

Fang Risheng, director of the Science and Technology Department of State Grid Fujian Electric Power Co., Ltd., said that the base aims to build an international first-class offshore wind power research platform, test platform, and exchange and cooperation platform, and is committed to creating an industrial ecology that integrates "technical research, testing and certification, equipment manufacturing, construction and installation, operation and maintenance," so as to fill the gap that there is no high-power full-scale ground test platform in China.

He said that after the completion of the base, it will integrate the functions of simulation analysis, operation testing, characteristic evaluation and technology research and development. it can carry out international cutting-edge technology research in many fields, such as large-capacity offshore wind turbine equipment, grid-friendly wind power grid-connected technology, tackle key core technologies of offshore wind power, and effectively enhance China's offshore wind power basic research and test capabilities.

In recent years, on the basis of the existing onshore wind power test verification capability, the State Grid continues to strengthen the research and test verification capacity of offshore wind power equipment. The offshore wind power test base, which is started this time, is an important part of the national key laboratory for renewable energy grid connection, including land testing center and test wind farm. The main functions are to carry out full-scale wind turbine ground test six degrees of freedom loading, super-large capacity complex power grid simulation, super-long blade biaxial high-frequency loading test and scientific research.

According to, citing data from the National Energy Administration, after breaking through 1.3 billion kilowatts in June this year, the installed scale of renewable energy power generation in China reached a new high, breaking through 1.4 billion kilowatts by the end of October, reaching 1.404 billion kilowatts, an increase of 20.8 percent over the same period last year, accounting for about 49.9 percent of the total installed power generation in the country. Including 420 million kilowatts of hydropower (370 million kilowatts of conventional hydropower and 5004 kilowatts of pumped storage), 404 million kilowatts of wind power, 536 million kilowatts of photovoltaic power generation and 44 million kilowatts of biomass power generation.

According to the National Energy Administration, the national installed capacity of renewable energy power generation is expected to exceed 1.45 billion kilowatts by the end of the year, and the installed capacity of wind power photovoltaic power generation will exceed 1 billion kilowatts.
