CTOnews.com news on December 6, according to the Financial Associated Press, at today's 2023 supercomputing innovation and application conference, the National Guangzhou Center in conjunction with Guangdong Unicom, China Mobile Internet, Pengcheng Laboratory, Guangdong Public Resources Trading Federation, Guangzhou Trading Group, Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Fok Ying Tung Research Institute, Macau Chinese Innovation and Technology Development Promotion Association and other 14 units officially launched the construction of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao supercomputing applied Internet. It aims to jointly create a national scientific and technological innovation platform and support the national computing network construction strategy.

According to Guangzhou Daily, on May 22, Cao Zhennan, deputy director of the National High performance computer Engineering and Technology Research Center, introduced the "supercomputing Internet Action Plan" at the Information and Communications Sub-Forum of the Dawan Science Forum in 2023.

The program plans to build a supercomputing Internet platform that integrates application, data and computing services, to solve the problem of uneven distribution of computing power in industries and regions, and to meet the continuous growth demand for computing power in various industry applications, so as to promote cutting-edge scientific and technological innovation and the development of AI industry. Cao Zhennan looks forward to helping Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area's industrial development through the "supercomputing Internet platform", and also hopes to take advantage of the advantages of software research and development in the Bay area to create a "supercomputing application mall."

CTOnews.com learned from the official platform of Sun Yat-sen University that in January this year, Lu Yutong, a member of the Guangdong Provincial Committee of the Chinese people's political Consultative Conference, suggested that Guangdong should establish a long-term mechanism to support the construction and sound development of major scientific and technological innovation platforms of the supercomputing center, so as to form the accumulation of arithmetic resources, application software, and technical service capabilities needed in multi-industry fields, and build the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area supercomputing integration application ecosystem.

As early as 2018, the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao supercalculation Alliance was formally established with the support of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance. The alliance is jointly launched by nine universities in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao. With the purpose of giving full play to the innovative driving role of "Tianhe II" in supercomputing, the alliance is committed to deepening the exchange of supercomputing applications in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and creating a "resource sharing circle of supercomputing in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao".
