CTOnews.com, December 14, AMD today announced open source AMD FidelityFX Super Resolution 3 (FSR 3), available for download by all developers as part of AMD FidelityFX SDK, as well as plug-ins for Unreal Engine 5.

FSR 3 supports DirectX 12 and Unreal engine 5, and qualified developers can now obtain the complete source code of FSR 3 through GPUOpen.

An updated version of FSR 3 will be unveiled in Avatar: Pandora Border and will be released on December 15 in the game Dragon: nobody.

When players open FSR 3 with frame generation technology in the game Avatar: Pandora Border, adjust the quality and settings through Ultra.

The latest version is v3.0.3, which is currently released as a special branch of AMD FidelityFX SDK 1.0 and provides the following:

AMD FSR 3 API for integration.

Provide complete C++ and HLSL source code through the library.

FSR 3 DirectX 12 example.

AMD also reminds you that all the FidelityFX SDK 1.0 sample source code is available in this version of the package, but only the FSR 3 executable is precompiled.

According to reports, the latest version of FSR 3 further improves the picture quality and optimizes for VRR (variable refresh rate) to provide a higher quality and smoother gaming experience by improving the frame rhythm.

CTOnews.com query found that AMD FSR 3 has been used in three AAA-level games, including "Forspoken", "Immortals of Aveum" and the recently released "Avatar: Pandora Border".

For AMD graphics cards, FSR3 will support Radeon RX 5700 and above graphics cards. Radeon RX 6000 series and above are recommended.

For Nvidia graphics cards, FSR3 will support GeForce RTX 20 series and above, and recommend GeForce RTX 30 series and above.

Several older graphics cards, such as the AMD RX 590 and Nvidia GTX 10 series, also support some of the features of FSR 3, but do not support the latest frame generation features.

FSR3 introduces frame generation technology similar to Nvidia DLSS3. As shown in the figure, when FSR3 is turned on, the number of Forspoken game frames increases from 4K 53 frames to 4K 85 frames and 4K 175 frames respectively.
