Shulou( Report--, December 18 (Xinhua)-- Apple is preparing to stop selling Apple Watch S9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 in the United States because of a long-running patent dispute with medical technology company Masimo.

Apple has just confirmed to 9to5Mac that Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 will no longer be available for purchase from Apple's website starting at 3: 00 p.m. EDT on December 21, and Apple retail stores will not replenish their inventory after they are sold out on December 24.

In October, the International Trade Commission (ITC) made a final ruling on the patent dispute, finding that Apple Watch had infringed Masimo's patents, and the case was settled after 60 days of presidential review.

The inquiry found that the presidential review period for the case will end on December 25, and if the US president fails to veto the court decision by that date, Apple will have to comply with the ITC resolution and remove the relevant Apple Watch from the shelves.

Apple said the ban only affected sales of the Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch Ultra 2 because only these two devices used the controversial blood oxygen monitoring sensor, while the lower end of the Apple Watch SE was unaffected and could continue to be sold.
