At the Open Atomic developers Conference held from December 16 to 17, Feng Guanlin, secretary general of the Open Atomic Open Source Foundation, said: "at present, 97% of developers and 99% of enterprises are using open source software. We should have the second largest number of developers in the world."

Open source software is a kind of software developed by distributed means, which is open, usable, modifiable and distributable. As a new cooperation mode derived from the software industry, open source is becoming an important force driving the development of the global information technology industry.

CTOnews.com query found that according to the 2022 China Open Source developer report, the number of open source developers in China exceeded 50 million, accounting for more than 20% of the total number of open source developers in the world.

Data show that Chinese open source developers are mainly concentrated in the Internet, IT services, software development and other industries. With the increasing number of open source developers in China, the contribution to the open source community is becoming more and more prominent, and its influence in the international open source community is also increasing.

According to the GitHub 2022 annual report, Chinese developers contributed more than 10 million warehouses, accounting for more than 15 per cent of the global warehouse population.

In addition, Chinese developers currently contribute more than 50 million warehouses on Gitee, accounting for more than 50% of the global number of warehouses. At the Apache Foundation, Chinese developers contribute more than 100 projects, accounting for more than 10% of the global number of projects.
