Thank CTOnews.com netizens soft media Xinyou 1933769 for the clue delivery! CTOnews.com, December 19, according to the latest report released by market research firm Counterpoint Research, global passenger electric vehicle (BEV) sales increased by 29% in the third quarter of 2023 compared with the same period last year.

The report said that China is still the world's largest pure electric car market, but due to factors such as a weak economic outlook and fierce price competition, China's pure electric car sales grew by only 11% in the third quarter, lower than the global average.

In spite of this, Chinese pure electric car brands have successfully sold more than 130000 pure electric vehicles abroad, a fourfold increase compared with the third quarter of 2022.

Tesla, BYD Automobile and Volkswagen are the best-selling pure electric vehicle groups. BYD Automobile (excluding Tengli) has caught up with Tesla, with an increase of 68% over the same period last year. At present, both of them have a market share of 17%. BYD has increased by 4% compared with the same period last year, and is expected to overtake Tesla in the fourth quarter. become a global leader.

Subdivided into models, the top five are taken by Tesla and BYD. Tesla's Model Y is the world's best-selling pure electric model, while Model 3 ranks third; BYD occupies a total of three seats, of which Yuan Plus is the best-selling, ranking second; BYD's dolphins ranked fourth and seagulls ranked fifth.

Senior analyst Soumen Mandal said:

China still accounts for 58% of the global pure electric car market, while the United States accounts for about 12%. Germany is the third largest pure electric car market, with an annual growth rate of more than 60%.

Pure electric vehicle adoption is also on the rise in emerging economies such as India and Southeast Asia due to reasonable price choices, and the US market expanded sharply throughout 2023.

Jeff Fieldhack, director of research, said:

Annual sales of BEV are expected to reach nearly 10 million vehicles by 2023.

The reduction of lithium-ion battery cost and the development of low-cost alternative battery chemical composition will help to improve the affordability of BEV.
