The agreement between the two sides could be announced as early as Friday local time.

According to reports, this will be the first European factory of BYD (passenger car). Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said at a news conference on Thursday local time that some parts of southern Hungary are expected to create jobs after "big business" investment.

The Times, citing three people familiar with the matter, reported that BYD was seeking to build a new factory to produce electric cars and batteries in Sajder, a region in southern Hungary.
