CTOnews.com December 23, market research firm Counterpoint Research recently released a number of infographics, summarizing the global share of semiconductors, wafer foundry and smartphone application processors (AP) in the third quarter of 2023.

Qualcomm has a 28% share in the quarter. Qualcomm's shipments increased month-on-quarter in the third quarter of 2023 due to high shipments of Snapdragon 695 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets.

In addition, the key design victory of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 in the Samsung Galaxy Fold / Flip series also contributed to this growth.

Qualcomm dominated the AP market by revenue in the third quarter of 2023 with a 40 per cent share of revenue. The brand's growth has been driven by the adoption of Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 by Samsung's flagship smartphones and Chinese OEMs.

In terms of revenue, Apple had 31% of the AP SoC market in the third quarter of 2023. Thanks to the launch of the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro series, Apple's share increased by 23% month-on-month.

MediaTek ranks third with a 15 per cent share, accounting for 15 per cent of global smartphone AP / SoC revenue. MediaTek's revenue grew month-on-month in the third quarter of 2023 as inventory levels declined and competition in the entry-level 5G sector continued to grow.
